This book offers views of San Francisco’s classic row houses as they exist today both pristinely restored and in decrepit and decaying condition. In recognition of their continued currency today the book employs a sleek and modern visual language. The proportions of the book and its typography are drawn from the dense verticality of San Francisco’s memorable streets. All of the photography is original and was shot on location by me in San Francisco.
This walking tour brochure was designed to guide visitors through the historic Hotel Del Monte and its gardens on the campus of the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. It includes a timeline and narrative history of the building — from its beginnings as a luxurious Pebble Beach resort hotel to the center of the national security research university’s campus. Archival photos of the Hotel accompany tour directions and a floor plan detailing the architectural features of the complex.
I designed this series of large format posters to help San Francisco Architectural Heritage promote their neighborhood walking tours and the docent-lead tours of the their historic house museum, the Haas-Lilienthal residence. The posters use photos from Heritage’s archive and 19th-century-style typography to allude to the history people will experience on the tours.
